SINGAPORE - The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore and the Indonesian Students Association (PPI) Singapore, successfully conducted a community health outreach at the Sembawang Recreation Centre.

Led by Dr. Anditri Weningtyas, M.Biomed., the event focused on providing comprehensive health services to Indonesian female migrant workers (PMI) in Singapore, reaching a total of 350 participants.

The event was graced by the presence of the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Mr. Suryopratomo, along with members of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Indonesian Embassy. Their participation underscored the Indonesian government’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of its citizens abroad.

This initiative aimed to improve the quality of health and well-being of female migrant workers by providing access to healthcare services that are often difficult to obtain, as well as raising awareness about early detection and healthy lifestyle practices.

The outreach was part of UM’s 2025 International Partnership Community Service Program (PKLN), fully supported by the university’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM UM).

This cross-sector collaboration contributed meaningfully to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Through this initiative, UM’s Faculty of Medicine and its partners aim to create a lasting positive impact, ensuring that Indonesian migrant workers remain healthy and productive while working abroad.

The event, held on Sunday, May 18, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM SGT, featured a variety of health service stations. Participants received blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, and education on early breast cancer detection through breast self-examination (SADARI).

Additional services included eye examinations and mental health counseling—demonstrating a holistic approach to migrant worker well-being.

Dr. Anditri Weningtyas, along with fellow UM medical doctors—Dr. Kiky Martha Ariesaka, M.Biomed., Dr. Lintang Widya Sishartami, M.Biomed., and Dr. Hilma Tsurayya, MHPE—actively led the breast cancer screening efforts.

The team also provided stress management education, distributing stress management booklets and offering personalized health consultations to address participants’ concerns.

This initiative aimed not only to offer immediate medical services but also to empower participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to manage daily stress and maintain long-term health and wellness.
